Director of Strategy

We are actively seeking an experienced forward-thinking expert to become an integral leader of our team as the Director of Strategy. In this role, you will be critical in shaping the strategic direction of our creative and messaging projects, ensuring they align with client objectives and market trends. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of experience in a similar role, either within an agency or in-house setting.

We prioritize candidates in the Eastern and Central Time Zone, recognizing the importance of synchronous collaboration for a seamless and connected team experience. Join us and be a part of our dynamic and forward-thinking team!

About the role

Your Responsibilities

1. Market Research and Analysis:

  • Lead a team of in-house and external partners through market research to identify emerging trends, consumer behaviors, and competitive landscapes.
  • Analyze data and insights to inform creative strategies and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Stay abreast of industry developments to ensure Bellweather remains at the forefront of innovation.

2. Strategic Ideation and Planning:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop comprehensive creative strategies that meet client goals and objectives.
  • Lead internal and external brainstorming sessions and research practices such as workshops, interviews, focus groups, etc. to generate innovative ideas and concepts.
  • Develop and present strategic proposals to clients, articulating the rationale behind recommended approaches.

3. Client Engagement:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients regarding research initiatives.
  • Foster strong client relationships by understanding their business objectives and translating them into effective creative strategies.
  • Work closely with account management teams to align client expectations, and project deliverables and budgeting.

4. Budget, Team Management and Development:

  • Provide leadership and mentorship to a team of researchers, strategists and copywriters  fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment..
  • Oversee the execution of strategic projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within project scope, and oversight of significant organizational budget
  • Encourage a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the department.
  • Foster team culture that promotes collaboration, proactivity, alignment to strategic goals, and development of junior team members.
  • Recruitment and management of freelance support staff including effort tracking, budgetary alignment, and hours allocation.
  • Participate in new business opportunities.

5. Performance Measurement:

  • Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of implemented strategies.
  • Regularly evaluate and report on the performance of campaigns, making data-driven recommendations for optimization.
About you

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of leadership experience in a research and strategy role within a creative agency or in-house marketing department.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills with a keen ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas in a clear and compelling manner.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful creative strategies for a diverse range of clients.
  • Leadership experience, with the ability to inspire and guide a team toward common goals.

Annual salary will be $130,000-175,000 based on experience.
